A school book-list checklist for the new academic year
A practical checklist for schools ordering textbooks and reference books in bulk: class-wise lists, editions, student strength, extra copies and timing.

Ordering books for a whole school is a lot of small details, and one missed detail means a class starts the year without a book. After supplying 250+ schools across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, these are the points that make a bulk order go smoothly.
1. Make one list per class
Write a separate list for each class and section, with the subject, full title, publisher and medium for every book. A single combined list is where mix-ups between similar titles happen.
2. Confirm the edition
Curricula change. NCERT has introduced new textbooks for Classes 1 to 8 in recent years, and State Board books are revised too. Check each title against the current syllabus before you finalise numbers.
3. Count students, then add a margin
Base quantities on confirmed strength for each class. New admissions arrive after the year starts, so plan for top-ups. With KBC, extra copies for new admissions and shortages can be arranged later, even a single book.
4. Decide on reference books and guides
If the school recommends reference books (for example Sura for State Board, or Oswaal, Xamidea or R.D. Sharma for CBSE), add them to the same order so they arrive together.
5. Order early
Send the final list well before the academic year begins. Early orders leave time to confirm availability and to resolve any title queries before classes start.
6. Ask about teacher training
Selected publisher partnerships include complimentary seminars and teacher training by authors and subject experts. Ask when you place your order.
